Learn gymnastics in Cheltenham
I’m Lisa, founder and principal of Happy Days Gym Club. I have been helping children learn gymnastics in Cheltenham since 1993!
Having started gymnastics at 11, I quickly fell in love with the sport and went on to gain British Gymnastics teaching qualifications in Pre School, General, Artistic and Judging.
I have always enjoyed working with children and alongside my own gymnastics training I also gained my Diploma in Childcare and Education (formerly known as NNEB). In 1991 an amazing opportunity presented itself when my team and I had the great honour to be selected to represent Great Britain at the World Gymneastrada in Amsterdam. My love of the sport was firmly cemented!
My gymnastics journey then took me to Zimbabwe where I worked with the Zimbabwe Gymnastics Association coaching gymnastics at grass roots level. It was such a formative experience and on my return I decided to make my dream of running a gymnastics club a reality. On the 13th March 1993 Happy Days Gym Club was launched at Charlton Kings Infant School which, to this day, is still our main venue for children wishing to learn gymnastics in Cheltenham. We also hold classes at Warden Hill Primary School and Dean Close.
I firmly believe gymnastics is the perfect all-round sport for building physical foundations and confidence for every child. At Happy Days we aim to do this in a fun, friendly and safe environment. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and coaching and it is my privilege to watch these young people grow in all areas of development and as individuals increase in both confidence and skill ability.
